The Art of Food Illustration, A Behind-the-Scenes Look at My Process



I am passionate about food illustration, and my process typically begins with creating simple sketches. Each element is illustrated individually, allowing me to focus on the details and intricacies of every item. This method ensures that each component of the illustration stands out with clarity and precision.


Once the individual illustrations are complete, I use Photoshop to arrange them into a cohesive and visually appealing composition. The software allows me to experiment with different layouts, ensuring that the final piece is well-balanced and aesthetically pleasing. This step is crucial in bringing the entire illustration together, highlighting the harmony between the various elements. 


After this composition process, I picked colours from real food images and made a colour pallet. then I started the colouring process. 


 I had the opportunity to work on an artwork with a very tight deadline. Despite the time constraints, I managed to produce a beautiful illustration that met the client's expectations. Both the client and I were thrilled with the result. If you enjoyed this, I would love to hear your comments.

I made food menu again!

I received this project from my previous employer, who had a newly opened hotel restaurant. The client wanted the food menus and other collateral designs to have a more professional and traditional approach. I researched various ideas and drew inspiration from them, eventually creating a sample menu design that the client approved.  For the final design, I used the etching technique, a traditional method for creating illustrations. We decided on a leather cover with spiral binding, which helped achieve a more traditional and professional look. The final result turned out beautifully, and the client was very pleased.

Food menus are like a canvas!

A food menu does more than display prices. it represents the business's nature and brand value. Unique food requires a unique menu to showcase it to the world. Food menus are like a canvas, and food illustration helps achieve that uniqueness and quality. I received this project from my previous employer, which required enhancing the brand value and showcasing the quality of the food. I developed a design concept and created sketches and illustrations based on this concept, adhering to the client's project timeline. This project was an amazing experience for me as it allowed me to research and study more about food and branding.
